NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF HEAT TRANSFER WATER-COOLED ROOF IN AN ELECTRIC ARC FURNACE

One of the major problems in electric arc furnace is high temperature which results thermal stresses and cracks within material surrounding walls. An effective cooling technique needed to avoid such problems. For this purpose, a novel roof configuration an used provide efficient reduce material. The consists two solid materials, namely, copper alumina brick. achieved by water circulation roof. A numerical model using finite element method was implemented solve heat conduction equation with complicated boundary conditions find out effects brick geometrical size variations for different values conductivity on distribution showed that decrease resulted significant top surface rectangular best option keep it at low temperature.
